 The Program: A week long six-hour-a-day intensive crash course for 2nd year Pipeline Students on navigating their careers in big firms, small firms, corporate and governmental entities. As the primary sponsor, Steptoe & Johnson is committed to the development of ethnically diverse lawyers of color and has pledged their financial support to cover the cost of the program for several students.
The Goal: To educate Pipeline Students about the professional expectations and the economic realities of law practice in various work environments. Pipeline Students will be assisted in law practice selection, career strategies and career fulfillment. In addition to other skills, the students will learn the following:
- Best practices for timekeeping
- Work product quality control practices
- Meeting the expectations of partners
- Strategies for making partner
- Career planning for government positions
- The role of marketing plans and business development
The Instructor: The course will be provided by Stakeholders, Inc., a professional career development and management company that has assisted thousands of young lawyers in obtaining successful legal careers. The cost of the course will be defrayed through the NBA Pipeline Development Scholarship Fund.
